About HealthFinance Tools
Our Mission
Americans face constant, high-stakes decisions where healthcare and personal finance collide — choosing an insurance plan during open enrollment, deciding COBRA vs. ACA after a job loss, sizing an HSA or FSA election, negotiating a surprise medical bill, or figuring out whether medical expenses are tax-deductible.
The information exists, but it's scattered across government sites, bank marketing pages, and generic calculator clones. We built HealthFinance Tools to assemble it into one fast, mobile-first, trustworthy toolkit — with no signup, no data collection, and no broker hand-off.
How Our Calculators Work
All calculations run entirely in your browser. We never collect, store, or transmit any personal, financial, or health information you enter. There are no accounts, no cookies tracking your inputs, and no data sent to any server.
Each calculator is built from publicly available rules and formulas published by authoritative sources: IRS Publication 502 and 969 (medical deductions and HSA rules), CMS (insurance regulations), HHS Federal Poverty Level guidelines, and KFF research data. Where we use approximate figures (e.g., state tax rates, procedure cost ranges), we note the approximation clearly.
Editorial Standards
Every calculator page includes:
- A clear explanation of how the math works
- Citations to primary sources (IRS, CMS, HHS, KFF)
- A disclaimer that results are estimates, not professional advice
- Last-updated date and the tax year the figures reflect
We are not affiliated with any government agency, insurance company, financial institution, or healthcare provider. Our tools are free and supported by advertising.
Why You Can Trust Us
We have no conflicts of interest. Unlike bank-sponsored HSA calculators or insurance-company plan tools, we don't sell products, manage accounts, or earn commissions on insurance quotes. When we recommend checking a specific resource (like Healthcare.gov or GoodRx), it's because it's the best tool for that job — not because we earn a referral fee.
